Our family has been the the USS Albacore MANY times and it never gets boring. The kids love exploring the submarine inside and out. It is a decommissioned 1953 test submarine that was saved from a watery grave when it was decommissioned in 1972 with the idea to turn it into a museum. It took almost 6 months starting in May of 1985 to dismantle a railroad bridge and cut out a section of 4 lane highway to get the submarine to it’s current home in Portsmouth, NH.
It is a self guided tour through the submarine. There are red buttons located throughout the sub to tell you about certain points of interest, some include voices from actual WW II submariners.
